DEME Chooses IHS Operational Risk Solution

IHS, the leading source of information and analytics, announced that Belgian dredging and hydraulic engineering group DEME N.V. has chosen the IHS Operational Risk Solution to improve the company’s incident management and action-tracking processes.

Safety is a key priority for all of our projects,” said Peter Bos, corporate manager of QHSE&S (quality, health, safety, environment and security) at DEME N.V.We will further consolidate and standardize, and with the proven HSE experience of IHS, we will ensure that our projects across the globe are consistently delivering our high standard of safety.”

Headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium, DEME is active in more than 90 different countries and has a permanent workforce of 4,200 dedicated people. DEME customers can rely on a dredging fleet consisting of 90 main vessels backed by a broad range of auxiliary equipment. As a fast-growing asset-intensive enterprise, it needed an information management system that would consolidate and standardize its incident investigation data, ensuring the safety of its employees as well as contractors in all of the challenging conditions in which it operates. DEME selected IHS IMPACT ERM® software for its ability to centralize its incident data and track actions from inception to completion. By using a standard enterprise-wide solution, DEME will be able to easily access its historical incident data and more efficiently share best practices across departments and sites, resulting in a quicker, more responsive business process.

A growing number of organizations are recognizing the importance of having a robust operational risk solution as part of a broader enterprise sustainability management strategy,” said IHS Vice President, EHS & Sustainability Solutions Scott Lockhart. We provide a full spectrum of information solutions – including software, content and services – to help our customers address these challenges and we are proud that DEME N.V. has selected IHS to support its global risk management program.

IHS will provide DEME with the necessary tools to make better decisions when investigating incidents and tracking corrective and preventative actions to completion. IHS software is designed to accommodate organizations with either simple or intensive incident management and action tracking requirements. The system’s web-based availability allows DEME teams to work collaboratively from a centralized database.
