Government Approves East Arm Wharf Dredging

Federal Government has approved the East Arm Wharf dredging plan for the new $104 million marine supply base.

According to the Territory Government, 635.000 cubic metres will be removed until the end of November, and 50.000 cubic metres over 46 days from May next year.

‘‘The conditions require trained marine fauna observers and specify no blasting, as well as environmental offsets in the form of habitat for migratory birds and dolphins,’’ stated Federal Environment Department secretary Dr Paul Grimes.
