New Zealand: Port of Tauranga Dredging Gets Go Ahead

Port of Tauranga Dredging Gets Go Ahead

The Port of Tauranga dredging project will begin next year, after all, according to radionz.co.nz.

After a two day hearing, the High Court dismisses an appeal against Tauranga dredging plans, submitted by the local iwi and hapua.

The Port of Tauranga officials recently announced plan to dredge the harbour to a maximum depth of 17.4 metres.

The first stage of this $80 million development project should commence late next year, stated Mark Cairns, the port’s chief executive.
