ACC Sues BIWTA Members (Bangladesh)

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a lawsuit against eight members of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), according to bdnews24.com.

Assistant Director Md Amirul Islam filed this case at the Motijheel Police Station on Thursday, stated Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, the ACC Public Relations Officer.

The basis for the lawsuit is the allegation that BIWTA officials embezzled the amount by showing fake documents for the dredging work in Ghosiakhali and Kumarkhali canals and 12 places in Mawa-Char Janajat ferry station, according to the First Information Report.

ACC Spokesperson Bhattacharya said: “The accused embezzled Tk 3,90,51,000 by showing a fake account of dredging over 3.76 lakh cm of earth.”
