The federal Department of Public Works is now reviewing bids for the dredging of Glace Bay harbour.

There were a total of five bids for the project ranging from a high bid of nearly 1.5 million dollars to a low bid of just under 900-thousand dollars.

The full dredge of the harbour is expect to start early next month.

The Glace Bay Harbour Authority says a full dredge should be good for 10 to 15 years.

In February, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans carried out an emergency partial dredge of the harbour.

A 300 to 400 foot-long area from the breakwater rocks to the end of the government wharf was covered during that 4-week project.
