USA: Corps Unveils West Coast Maintenance Dredging Plan

The Portland District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to issue an Invitation for Bid, No. W9127N-13-B-0001 for West Coast Hopper Maintenance Dredging 2013.

This dredging project includes maintenance dredging at the mouth of the Columbia River, select Columbia River bars from RM 3+00 to 105+00, Coos Bay, San Francisco Main Ship Channel, Richmond, and Pinole.

Approximately 2,500,000 cubic yards shall be dredged as mandatory bid items. Additional funding is being sought to dredge an additional 4,500,000 cubic yards to meet mission requirements. If additional funding is received, it is the intent of the Government to increase the mandatory bid items during the solicitation advertise period. The additional work is subject to the availability of funds.

Placement of maintenance material will be located at designated in-water placement sites, including ocean and river disposal. Dredging will occur in Oregon, Washington State, and California. Water Quality Monitoring will be required in conjunction with the current water quality certificates. Anticipated dredging start date is May 2013 with an anticipated completion date of 30 November 2013.

This solicitation will be available for download on or about 21 January 2013 with bid opening approximately 30 days after issue.
