Commissioners OK Masons Inlet Dredging Plan

During its regular meeting on December 17, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the nearly $2.2 million contract for the Masons Inlet dredging program.

According to luminanews.com, a brief presentation about the $2,178,600 dredging contract has been delivered by the County engineer Jim Iannucci, who also stated that the bid by Norfolk Dredging Company came in $1 million under the estimated amount.

He added that “staff has discussed this with representatives of the Mason Inlet Preservation Group.”

Regarding the timeframe for the project from the environmental angle, the dredging work on the Masons Inlet needs to be wrapped up by March 31, 2013.
