Geosyntec to Present at Battelle Sediments Conference

Geosyntec will be well represented at the 7th International Conference on Remediation of Contaminated Sediments, organized and presented by Battelle February 4-7, 2013, in Dallas.

Maintaining the economic and biological viability of the environments of rivers, lakes, bays, and harbors requires advanced management of a complex series of actions related to the accumulation in sediments of potentially hazardous contaminants. The Battelle Sediments Conference is a forum for sharing experience and progress toward this goal.

More than 1,100 scientists, engineers, regulators, and other environmental professionals representing universities, government site management and regulatory agencies, and R&D and manufacturing firms are expected to attend. Among them will be more than 20 Geosyntec professionals, with six scheduled to give platform presentations and another six presenting posters.

Kwasi Badu-Tweneboah, P.E., a senior geotechnical engineer and an Associate of the firm based in Florida, is the chair of Battelle’s Thursday session, “The Role of Geotechnical Assessment.” In addition, Tamara Sorell, Ph.D., a senior toxicologist based in Massachusetts, will be the instructor for a short course on Monday, “Efficiencies in Sediment Remedial Selection and Implementation.” Dr. Sorell also is scheduled to co-chair a panel discussion on Tuesday, “The Realities of Bioavailability in Sediment Management.”
