Boustany: RAMP Act Gains Momentum in Senate (USA)

RAMP Act Gains Momentum in Senate

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after drafted legislation in the U.S. Senate proposed by Senator David Vitter (R-LA) and Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) authorizes an increase in the amount of available financing for harbor dredging work.

This drafted legislation mirrors language introduced by Congressman Boustany in the U.S. House in H.R. 335, the RAMP Act:

“A lack of dredging and proper maintenance of waterways in America has resulted in inefficiency, a competitive disadvantage, and higher prices for consumers. As a Member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade, I am very concerned with the state of our country’s waterways The RAMP Act contains key language, supported by members on both sides of the aisle in both chambers of Congress, allocating funding to keep America’s ports and harbors competitive. As the RAMP Act gains momentum in the Senate, I commend both Senator Vitter and Senator Boxer for their leadership in recognizing the importance of our nation’s waterways.”
