McIntyre Announces Additional USD 1.5 Million for Carolina and Kure Beaches

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre announced yesterday that an additional $1,500,000 in federal funds have been secured for the Carolina Beach and Kure Beach renourishment project.

Congressman McIntyre stated, “More critical funding has been secured for Carolina Beach and Kure Beach! As the beach season is set to begin, this $1.5 million in federal funds will supplement the $9.3 million and ensure that this key project is finalized and that the beach is thoroughly renourished.

Congressman McIntyre recently toured Carolina Beach and Kure Beach with the Army Corps of Engineers and local officials to view the renourishment efforts underway. This work was made possible by the $9.3 million in federal funds Congressman McIntyre secured for those projects.

Congressman McIntyre, Chairman of the Congressional Waterways Caucus, has long advocated the need to improve the maintenance of the numerous inlets to the Intracoastal Waterway in the Cape Fear Region, and he has been a supporter of investments to coastal infrastructure and beach renourishment projects.
