Australia: Officials Invite Comments on Ocean Beaches Strategy

Officials Invite Comments on Ocean Beaches Strategy

More than 900 people have had their say on the City’s draft Ocean Beaches Strategy 2013-2023, but there are only a few days remaining until the community consultation closes on Monday 6 May.

The survey period has been extended to give the public a chance to visit Burleigh Heads on Saturday for discussions with Council officers.

According to early post code figures available from the survey, the largest response to date has come from Palm Beach/Elanora, followed by Main Bach, Surfers Paradise, Bundall and Benowa.

Mayor Tom Tate said the balance of respondents was likely to change after Saturday’s Burleigh Heads community consultation.

The original Burleigh Heads event, at Justin’s Park, was postponed due to heavy rain,” he said.

“Both Palm Beach and Surfers Paradise have already hosted community engagement events, which would account for the increase in response from these areas.

“I encourage everyone from across the Gold Coast to use the next few days to make their voice known to Council by completing the online survey, or coming along on Saturday, hopefully in warm sunshine this time around, to discuss the strategy.”
