Meeting on Carmichael Levee Work Scheduled for June 20

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is inviting the public to an outreach meeting to discuss upcoming American River levee work near the William B. Pond recreation area in Carmichael, Calif.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, June 20, at American River Parkway Foundation Office, 5700 Arden Way, Carmichael, CA.

Representatives from federal, state and local agencies will be available to answer questions about the construction method and associated construction activities scheduled to begin in June and continue through November.

The levee work on the American River’s north bank is necessary to widen, strengthen and realign more than 1,300 feet of levee, bringing it to within Corps standards. The levee segment, near the recreation area and a former waste water treatment plant, is trespassed by a myriad of underground communication, water and other utility crossings that obstructed the Corps’ levee work near there more than a decade ago.
