The International Symposium and Exhibition on the Redevelopment of Manufactured Gas Plant Sites (MGP 2014) will be held at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, Florida, USA, on April 6-8, 2014.

The International Society of Technical & Environmental Professionals, Inc., the Center for Biomedical & Toxicological Research at Florida State University and Association & Conference Management, LLC are organizing the event.

A primary focus will be how to best meet the regulatory and risk reduction requirements for site closure. A number of site-specific regulatory, community-awareness and technology issues are critical to meeting closure deadlines. Examples of topics to be covered are:

– “Soil vapor intrusion from MGP contaminants into structures on sites – Is it real or not?”

– “Contaminated sediments – What are my choices for remediation besides dredging?”

– “In-situ chemical oxidation – Does it work on soils with NAPL?”

– “In-situ solidification – How do I convince my regulators that it is a viable remedial option?”

– “Deed restrictions – How do I negotiate these with third party owners?”

The symposium will focus on successful redevelopment case studies, experience in applying innovative remediation technologies, interfaces with regulators, third party involvement and community relations, and risk management. Panel discussions featuring industry experts will sort through some of the more challenging issues.

The technical sessions will be closely integrated with an exhibition for technology vendors and innovators, environmental consultants and others providing goods and services to the MGP remediation industry.
