Chabahar Port Dredging Plan Introduced

Director General of Chabahar Port said that there are three breakwaters due to be operational shortly.

Mr. Rezvani also said that these three breakwaters will be put into operation out of the six breakwaters which are on the agenda for construction. Regarding the first phase of the port’s development plan, Mr. Rezavani said that the berths projected in the plan are under construction but the dredging operation is needful for the continuation of work for which a modern dredger have been purchased that will be brought to the port shortly.

Some 17 million cubic meter should be dredged and to date about 2.5% of the operation has been carried out,” Chabahar’s Director General said. He also added that construction activities for 100-meter berth are underway.

With regard to fuel transit from Chabahar Port, Mr. Rezvani said that transit of fuel to Afghanistan has been initiated as of last month and there are ongoing negotiations to develop fuel transit to this country. He also said that private sector has made an investment worth $ 2 million in this regard.

Chabahar is located in the south east of Iran bordering the Oman Sea with an ideal position for transit of cargo to Iranian eastern neighbors.
