Corps to Invite Bids for Tangier Island Dredging Program

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, has announced the details about the Tangier Island dredging program.

This development project includes maintenance dredging on the main channel from Tangier sound to the basin at Tangier, and dredging on the channel from the basin westward to the Chesapeake Bay.

The work will be performed by a cutter-head dredger.

All dredged material should be transported by pipeline and placed at the designated beach placement area at the Northwest Uppards.

The construction period will be 45 days, and the total cost is estimated between $1 mln and $5 mln. The estimated award date is in October 2013.
