The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) is seeking public comment on the City of Tumwater’s proposed update to its shoreline master program.
The draft shoreline program update will guide future construction and development along approximately 24 miles of freshwater shoreline within the city and its urban growth area including portions of:
-Barnes Lake
-Black Lake and Black Lake drainage ditch
-Capitol Lake
-Deschutes River
-Lake Susan
-Munn Lake
-Percival Creek
-Trosper Lake
The proposed program combines local plans for future development and preservation with new development regulations and related permitting requirements.
Tumwater’s locally-tailored shoreline program is designed to help minimize environmental damage to shoreline areas, reserve appropriate areas for water-oriented uses, and protect the public’s right to access public lands and waters.
