Pwllheli Harbour Dredging Plan Unveiled

Last mont, the Gwynedd Council hosted an exhibition and information event on the marine improvements that will be carried out at Pwllheli harbour in the coming months.

Details of the proposed marine improvements which are due to be carried out during winter 2013/14, including dredging work to maintain the sailing channel and upgrading work that includes installing new flexible pontoon berths.

The Pwllheli harbour improvements will combine dredging work to maintain the sailing channel as well as the capital work associated with the new £8.3 million National Sailing Academy and Events Centre which include the installation of new flexible pontoon berths. The National Sailing Academy and Events Centre in Pwllheli is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.

Councillor John Wynn Jones, Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet Member for the Economy, said:

We are pleased that marine improvements for Pwllheli harbour will be carried out over the coming months – this exhibition was an excellent opportunity for the local community to see the proposed improvements that will upgrade the harbour and its sailing channel for present users.

“The upgrading work carried out this winter will also provide the infrastructure for the development of the new National Sailing Academy and Events Centre at Pwllheli.”
