Waterways Normalization Underway

As many as 23 spots of water channel, river, and plaster in Central Jakarta will be repaired by the local Water Channel Management Public Works Sub-Department. The project is targeted to finish by upcoming December.

“We’ll normalize water channel, river, and plaster in 23 locations in Central Jakarta. It is conducted to anticipate puddles and floods during rainy season which could disturb road users,” stated Head of Central Jakarta Water Channel Management Public Works Sub-Department, Herning Wahyuningsih.

Among the water channels and rivers to be normalized are Krukut River and Sentiong River, as well as water channels on Jl. Lontar and in Sumur Batu.

“Our data now tells that there are about 23 water channels and rivers to be normalized. But, that’s just preliminary data, it could add up. We also have proposed fund as much as Rp 15 billion to Jakarta Parliament for this project. Hopefully our proposal could be approved, so water channels normalization work in Central Jakarta could run optimally,” she uttered.
