Singapore: Benoi Basin Dredging Ready to Start

Benoi Basin Dredging Ready to Start

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has informed the shipping, harbour craft and pleasure craft communities in Singapore’s waters that the Benoi Basin dredging project is scheduled for October 14, 2013.

This development program will be carried out by a dredger which will be held with 4 anchors.

The dredging vessel, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50 m radius centered at the dredgers.

The dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barges.

During the operation, the dredger will be attended by tug boats, which will be used to shift the dredger.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other crafts of the project.

The completion date is scheduled for 31 December 2013.
