On 2nd October 2013, the Maintenance Contract for Seawalls and Navigation Channels (2013-2016) was signed between CWE and the Civil Engineering and Development Department of HK SAR.

With a contract value of HKD140, 000,000 (USD17, 950,000 in equivalent), the project is of a construction period of 3 years, of which the commencement date is 8th October, 2013. Its main work is to repair and maintain marine facilities in Hong Kong.

In this third marine maintenance contract of CWE in Hong Kong, different from the former two signed respectively in 2005 and 2008, NEC (New Engineering Contract) proposed by HK SAR was applied in the contractual documentation, and the Article “to build a mutual trust and corporation partnership spirit” was also included, indicating the first practice of “partnership” in contractual document and the first application of NEC in tendering of a maintenance project by the Civil Engineering and Development Department of HK SAR.
