Indonesia: North Jakarta Dredging Programs Near End

North Jakarta Dredging Programs Near End

Many dredging programs across North Jakarta are expected to be wrapped up by the end of this month, reports thejakartapost.com.

“We are focusing not only on Pluit and Riario dams but also on reservoirs and rivers, including South Sunter, North Sunter and Tomang reservoirs. We’ve deployed 20 excavators at each reservoir,” stated Governor Joko Widodo during the inspection of the dredging projects at these locations.

The cleanup ventures, which should be completed just before the rainy season hits its peak, would not necessarily stop flooding in the areas, according to thejakartapost.com.

“These are part of a series of efforts the city administration and the central government should undertake. However, it also takes neighboring administrations’ efforts to handle flood issues,” concluded Widodo.
