Deltares: Renan Ribeiro Receives Award (The Netherlands)

Renan Ribeiro Receives Award

On Tuesday, 5 November at the Delft Software Days, Deltares handed out an award to a member of the software community in recognition of his substantial contribution to the open source portal.

The software community in the area of water, subsurface and infrastructure currently includes more than 5,300 members, who talk to one another on a daily basis on the open source portal launched by Deltares. Since a number of Deltares software packages, including Delft3D, went open source, this is the platform for worldwide discussions about the various applications and use.

The person who was most active on the Delft3D forum this year was Renan Ribeiro of Tetra Tech in Brazil.

Renan earned the award with his invaluable feedback: posting guidelines for modelling, relevant articles, interesting events, nuts-and-bolts discussions and demonstrations.

The Delft Software Days are an annual international software event organised by Deltares in collaboration with the Delft University of Technology and IHE. The event lasts two weeks and is located at the Deltares premises.

Over 40 countries were represented this year.

Deltares launched its open software policy more than two years ago. Since then, the community has taken shape, with the Delft Software Days serving as a platform for further discussions and networking.
