USA: Comments Invited on Fox River Cleanup Plan

Comments Invited on Fox River Cleanup Plan

The public is invited to look over and comment on on-going cleanup plans for the Lower green Bay and Fox River areas.

A new Remedial Action Plan Update for the Lower Green Bay and Fox River Area of Concern is now available for public review. The update lists specific actions that will be important for reaching the cleanup goals for the Area of Concern, which includes the Fox River from the De Pere dam to the mouth and southern end of the Bay of Green Bay.

Areas of Concern are polluted “hot spots” along the Great Lakes where severe, historic pollution degraded the habitat and water quality, resulting in levels of environmental contaminants so high that people couldn’t safely eat the fish and wildlife.

The actions identified in the Remedial Action Plan Update address the pollution and related habitat and water quality issues in the Lower Green Bay and Fox River Area of Concern. It also includes information about progress made in that area since the last update was completed in 2012.

The Remedial Action Plan Update was prepared by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in consultation with its partners.
