Harding, Bourdeau to Discuss Erosion, Sediment Controls

Michael V. Harding, CPESC, CESSWI, a senior consultant for Geosyntec based in California, is an invited speaker at two upcoming workshops to be held in New England this month on the topic of erosion and sediment control.

In the first, Mr. Harding will conduct a Nov. 19 workshop, “Guide on How to Conduct Erosion and Sediment Control Inspections at Construction Sites for New Hampshire MS4 Communities,” at the Coastal Training Center in Greenland, New Hampshire. His co-presenter is Daniel Bourdeau, P.E., CPESC, CPSWQ, a civil and water resource engineer for Geosyntec based in New Hampshire.

The event is co-sponsored by the International Erosion Control Association (IECA)’s Northeast Region and the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. It will provide a how-to guide for municipal officials and others required to inspect construction sites for erosion and sediment controls and permit compliance under the forthcoming EPA Region 1 MS4 Permit.

Both Mr. Harding and Mr. Bourdeau will co-present a second workshop Nov. 21 during the IECA’s Northeast Regional Annual Conference in Warwick, Rhode Island. This workshop will also cover erosion and sediment control inspections but is geared toward a broader audience in the northeast on NPDES Construction General Permit compliance.

Mr. Harding is an international leader in erosion control with more than 35 years of experience in resource management, mined land reclamation, wildlife habitat development, and non-point source pollution controls. He ranks among the nation’s leaders in the evaluation, research, development, and application of cost-effective erosion control materials and techniques.

In addition, Mr. Harding also is chair of the IECA. Founded in 1972, the IECA is a non-profit organization that serves as the premier global resource for the prevention and control of erosion and sediment. The organization provides education, resource information, and business opportunities for 2,500 professional members representing more than 40 countries and 17 fields of practice.
