The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, has unveiled a plan for the San Pedro Bay dredging program.
This deepening project will include dredging and disposal of material from the federal navigation channels within San Pedro Bay, specifically the channels at the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Los Angeles River Estuary (LARE), leading to the Queensway Marina.
Disposal of the dredged material will be either upland, near shore, or offshore at an EPA approved ocean disposal site.
The estimated cost of this project is between USD 1 mln and USD 5 mln, and the approx. duration of the work is three months.
During the San Pedro Bay dredging venture, 80,000 to 350,000 cubic yards of material will be removed from the mentioned areas.
