Italdraghe Completes Riccione Replenishment Program

Italdraghe SpA has just completed work on the brand new underground sand pipe project for the town council of Riccione, Italy.

Riccione is one of Italy’s most popular toursit resorts, yet its much loved golden beaches are subject to significant erosion.

Thanks to the new sand pipe that runs underground along the length of the beach there is now no need transport sand recovered elsewhere back to the beach by truck.

The town’s new project involves the use of a BE 300R dredger and SGT 300 RS RPV booster station, both designed and built by Italdraghe, that work in conjunction to the pump the sand, that builds up at the mouth of the port of Ricccione, a distance of 3.5 kilometres down the coast, allowing for beach replensihment at critical points along the way.
