Kerry Simpson Joins Moffatt & Nichol (USA)

Moffatt & Nichol announced that Kerry Simpson, PE has joined the firm as a key leadership member in the firm’s marine terminals practice. Mr. Simpson has over 23 years of experience focused on the planning, analysis and design of various port facilities including marine and rail container terminals.

Moffatt & Nichol announced that Kerry Simpson, PE has joined the firm as a key leadership member in the firm’s marine terminals practice.

Mr. Simpson has over 23 years of experience focused on the planning, analysis and design of various port facilities including marine and rail container terminals. He has worked extensively with port authorities, shipping companies, terminal operators, railroad companies and equipment and system suppliers.

This experience has ranged from conceptual planning through completion of construction and has included analysis and planning for numerous container terminals, including storage yards, intermodal rail yards, gate complexes, terminal buildings and site security.

In fact, he has been involved in the planning and design efforts for numerous terminals with annual throughputs greater than 2,000,000 TEUs and has extensive knowledge in layout philosophies, diverse terminal operational modes and all types of container handling equipment.

“Kerry’s breadth and depth of experience in port planning, analysis and design is an invaluable addition to our integrated in-house capabilities, ” says Richard Steinke, head of Moffatt & Nichol’s marine terminals practice . “ We’re excited to have him on board to provide support for our clients worldwide.”

Mr. Simpson obtained his Masters of Civil Engineering from California State University and his Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from Humboldt State University. He is also an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
