The Philippines: Manila Bay Reclamation Project to Bring Benefits

Manila Bay Reclamation Project to Bring Benefits

The proposed P14-billion Manila Bay reclamation project will not only provide livelihood opportunity for thousands of people but also economic development to the city of Las Pinas, recently announced pia.gov.ph.

I am convinced that the Alltech Coastal Bay Project is not detrimental to the environment and would bring in the needed economic development in terms of livelihood and will provide 20,000 jobs for the residents,Las Piñas Mayor Vergel ‘Nene’ Aguilar said.

It would also result to bigger revenues that can be used in the delivery of more classrooms and modern school buildings, modern health centers, higher health benefits (free hospitalization), more scholarships for the IT and College education and other social services that benefit the people,”Águilar added.

Aguilar stated that the proposed plan “went through a series of consultations and supported by scientific research conducted by reputable organizations such as the Danish Hydrological Institute, DCCD Engineering Corporation and Surbana” indicating that “it would not cause massive environmental damage and flooding”.
