D River Dredging Kicks Off (USA)

D River Dredging Kicks Off

Weather and ocean conditions permitting, the Devils Lake Water Improvement District will be conducting an emergency dredging of the D River as early as today.

This is the next best available time based on tides and predicted ocean conditions.

As of Monday 8:30 am, the lake level was at 9.8’ and rising. At this time it is estimated that based on the amount of sand deposited in the D River channel, that the lake would have to flood low lying properties (flooding occurs at approximately 11.0’) before it would rise high enough to begin flowing out to sea again and thus allow fish passage.

This will be reevaluated each morning until the issue is resolved.
