Korle Lagoon Dredging Begins in February

Mr. Oko Vanderpuije, the Mayor of Accra, has announced that the Korle Lagoon dredging project will start in February, according to citifmonline.com.

This project, which requires a relocation of the Sodom and Gomorrah residents, has been delayed due to financial problems.

Dredging of the Sodom and Gomorrah, Nima, Kotabi – areas is a part of the city upgrading project which is scheduled to begin this year.

Large amounts of waste in the Odaw River increase the possibility of flood risk in this area.

The Odaw project, the construction of the drains, the construction and improvement of landfills in Accra and all other aspects of sanitation and sewage projects is underway,” said the major in a radio interview today.
