Government to Review Proposal for Greenfield Port Development

The Union Government has set up a committee to review the Greenfield Port development proposal, located at Tadadi in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

The Committee suggested development of Tadadi initially as a barge port for 4 meter draft vessels and subsequently as a Major Port when there is significant traffic available. The study report has been forwarded to the Government of Karnataka.

This information was given by the Union Minister for Shipping, Shri G.K. Vasan, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
