The State Government has invited bidders to submit their expressions of interest (EOI) for the Ballina boat harbor dredging program, reports northernstar.com.au.

“ The EOI phase will indicate the interest of potential service providers who are capable of doing the job ,” said deputy premier Andrew Stoner in Ballina today.

Ballina MP Don Page is confident that the proposed works will restore the harbour to its peak condition, and added that the harbour had been filling up with sediment “to the point where concerns have been raised about vessel access, manoeuvrability and the general amenity of harbour facilities. ”

Depending on the result of this EOI phase, dredging work will probably begin later this year.
