Galveston District Prepares Large Dredging Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, has introduced a plan to invite contractors to perform hopper dredging in the Sabine-Neches Waterway, Texas, Outer Bar and Bank Channel in Jefferson County, Texas and Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

During the dredging work, approx. 2,821,000 cubic yards of material will be removed from the mentioned areas.

The dredged material will be deposited in a designated offshore placement area. There will be no levee work for this project.

The total value of this deepening program is estimated to be between $1 mln and $5 mln.
