Port of Odessa Joins Ecoports

On February 6, the Port of Odessa Authority became a member of the working project Ecoports as a part of the European Sea Ports Organization.

This became possible thanks to the system of preparatory work carried out in the port, quality organization of environmental safety and compliance with the highest European standards.

Recall that in November 2013 Ukrainian port industry was first presented at the largest environmental forum “GreenPort Congress 2013″ (Antwerp, Belgium).

During the meeting, representatives of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” announced the beginning of the accession process to the European association of “green” ports – «Ecoports» and Ukrainian harbors intention to become the part of the European Sea Ports Organization ESPO.

Odessa was the first Ukrainian seaport that have passed a complicated path of joining to the family of “Green Ports” of Europe. This fact indicates compliance to high environmental safety requirements in force in European ports. The same preparations is now carried out in the ports of Illichivsk and Yuzhnyi,” said Head of Environmental Safety Department of SE “USPA” Sergei Perfilev.
