The Dutch dredgers and dredging equipment manufacturer Dredge Yard has participated in The Forum of Dredging Companies, held on 12 February 2014 in Moscow, Russia.

The event was organized by media group IAA PortNews and the partners of the Forum were FSUE ROSMORPORT and the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC).

The forum hosted over 100 participants, including most of the leading organizations in dredging industry, port and local authorities. Dredge Yard’s representatives were Basel Yousef, the CEO and Iulia Berchiu, the Marketing Manager of the company.

Dredge Yard’s CEO, Basel Yousef , discussed about “Fuel Saving Solutions” and the dredging industry as a whole, emphasizing problems and solutions about a major component needed for dredger that for the past 30 years hasn’t been changed and that plays an important role in saving the power generated on board.

“In the dredging industry a lot of attention was dedicated to developments of dredge pumps, cutter heads and drive systems. Dredge pumps for example improved in efficiency by changing impeller vane design from straight to double curved design reaching an efficiency of more than 90%. Therefore, it is time to have a change in the coupling systems as well ,” said Yousef.

Dredge Yard presented a variety of solutions developed for the coupling systems that can enhance the productivity as well as increase savings.
