Public Hearing on North Wildwood Beach Study Set for Friday

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Coastal Engineering will host a public hearing Friday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. in the public meeting room of North Wildwood City Hall.

The officials will discuss the feasibility study put forth by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that addresses hurricane and storm damage reduction alternatives for North Wildwood, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and the Diamond Beach section of Lower Township with respect to the area’s beaches.

The Bureau of Coastal Engineering has invited the public to attend the public hearing and present written or oral comments on the feasibility report, the environmental assessment and the recommended plan.

The recommended plan in the feasibility report includes the restoration of a berm and dune utilizing sand hydraulically back-passed from the beaches of Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and Diamond Beach.
