The dredger has arrived and preliminary work has begun on the 2014 Coastal Storm Damage Reduction Project, the Town of Ocean Isle Beach announced.
It is anticipated that dredging of sand will begin as early as next week.
The Town of Ocean Isle Beach said that this contract has been awarded by the Corps of Engineers to Weeks Marine, Inc.
About 640,000 cubic yards of material will be placed on the beach strand in the area beginning at Shallotte Blvd and continuing westward to approximately Leland Street.
