The Washington Department of Ecology is seeking public comment on an amendment to the city of Redmond’s shoreline master program that incorporates changes to critical areas regulations and the comprehensive plan.
The shoreline program amendment includes recent changes to the natural environment chapter of the city’s comprehensive plan and minor changes to critical areas regulations related to wellhead protection and frequently flooded areas.
The critical areas regulations and natural environment chapter are subsections of Redmond’s shoreline master program.
Redmond’s shorelines consist of Lake Sammamish, the Sammamish River, and Bear and Evans creeks.
The proposed amendment will help support the broader initiative to protect and restore Puget Sound.
Under Washington’s 1972 voter-approved Shoreline Management Act, Ecology must review and approve the amendment before it takes effect.
