UK: River Avon Dredging Starts

River Avon Dredging Starts

BD Westby has started to dredge the River Avon in Stratford-upon-Avon, reports the Stratford Herald.

River Avon was previously dredged in 2001.

Dredging operations, undertaken under the Clopton and Tramway bridges, are scheduled to last three to four weeks.

We’re removing the deposits of leaves and branches and sand that’s washed down the river,“ said Barry Westby, Managing Director of the company.

Dredging will increase the depth of the river channel and improve the river flow by removing silt that has build up over years.
