USACE Organizes Open House on Beaver Island Project (USA)
The Rock Island District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) intends to partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IA DNR) on a feasibility study identifying and investigating ecosystem restoration opportuinities within Pool 14.
The proposed study is located between river mile 513.0-515.5 in the southern portion of Clinton County and includes Beaver Island, Beaver Slough, Grass Slough, and Lower Lake. An open house addressing the initiation of the Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study will be held March 26, 2014 between 6 and 8 pm at the Erickson Center, 1401 11th Ave N, Clinton, IA..
At the Open House USACE, FWS, and IA DNR representatives will be available to discuss the existing and historic conditions at Beaver Island; gather information, comments, and other pertinent data from the public; review the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Upper Mississippi River Refuge System; and explain the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers planning process.
