Wicomico River Dredging to Take Place in the Fall

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, the Wicomico River maintenance dredging program is scheduled for the fall and winter of 2014.

During this project, located between Upper Ferry and Salisbury, Maryland, approximately 100,000 cubic yards of material will be removed by a hydraulic pipeline dredger and placed at an upland placement site, known as Sharp’s Point.

The Wicomico River will be dredged to the authorized depth of 14 feet mean lower low water (MLLW), plus one foot of allowable overdepth.

The period of performance will be approximately 90-120 days, and the total cost is estimated between $1 mln and $5 mln.
