Dredging in Norfolk Harbor Soon to Start

Approximately 525,900 cubic yards of material will soon be removed from the Norfolk Harbor and Craney Island Reach Federal Navigation Channel.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, this dredging program will be performed with a hydraulic dredger, and the dredged material will be transported and placed in a designated Government-furnished placement area at Craney Island.

The main goal of this project is to achieve the required depths of 47 and 51 feet MLLW each with one foot of allowable overdepth.

The contract duration will be 60 days after receiving the notice to proceed.
