Shem Creek Dredging

The the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, conducted a dredging project in Shem Creek to dredge the channel back to its former depth.

This will allow the shrimping industry in the area to continue to function without hinderance. For this purpose the Corps employed the dredger Richmond.

This dredger is 130 feet long, 28 feet wide and has more than 2,000 horsepower of pump and generators installed.
