UK: Officials Prepare Fairhaven Lake Sea Defences Plan

Officials Prepare Fairhaven Lake Sea Defences Plan

Fylde Borough Council will conduct a major planning to secure sea defences and future management of the coastline.

Works will include improved sea defences at Fairhaven Lake and Church Scar and may, depending on funding, begin as soon as 2017.

Sea defences at Pleasure Island are also being considered with a longer timescale of possibly 20 years.

Wider Coastal Masterplan proposals aim to boost Fylde’s attractiveness to residents and tourists by improved management, maintenance and development of the borough’s coastal assets.

The sea defence proposals and Coastal Masterplan proposals are both soon to be open to public consultation.
