On 9th April 2014, Luka Koper’s Management Board President Gašpar Gašpar Mišič hosted LI Yong, Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

Following the presentation of the port and its development plans Mr LI Yong concluded that Luka Koper is very well organised and not important only for Slovenia but also a wider Central European region.

“My attention was in particular attracted by the fact that you work 24/7, throughout the year which enhances your competitive advantage. After what I have seen, I feel confident that you have a bright future,” said Director General LI Yong .

“ Our plans are very ambitious but feasible. Luka Koper doesn’t have problems but just challenges. In the next month, the depth of Basin I will reach 14 metres which will allow the arrival of large container vessels. By 2018, our Container Terminal will handle over a million containers a year. We are focused on the development and growth whilst expecting the state to invest in transport infrastructure, in particular the construction of the second railway track Divača-Koper ,” said Management Board President Gašpar Mišič.
