USA: Corps Delays Approval of Central Everglades Planning Project

Corps Delays Approval of Central Everglades Planning Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers yesterday made the incomprehensible decision to postpone its approval of the vital Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP), announced evergladesfoundation.org.

This delay means Congress will be unable to act on CEPP for years.

The Corps has known for more than a year that they needed to act in time to allow Congress to add CEPP to the current Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA), said evergladesfoundation.org.

Members of Florida’s Congressional delegation, staff from the U.S. Department of Interior, Florida Governor Rick Scott’s administration, the South Florida Water Management District and community leaders have for many months been urging the Corps to do its duty and get the job done.
