Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez said that the Dagupan rivers dredging scheme will start soon.

Fernandez made the assurance after noting that some sectors have expressed impatience after dredging works has yet to commence despite the fact that three modern dredging machines are already in the city.

The machines came from the national office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Fernandez stressed that the crews of the dredging machines are still preparing the equipment that they will need for the dredging project.

She also pointed out that the Watermaster III, the most modern dredging machine of the DPWH, is still being assembled after being transported to the city by trucks.

According to estimates, dredging of the shallow rivers in Dagupan will take more than a year to complete.
