USA: Great News for JAXPORT Dredging and Mile Point Project

Great News for JAXPORT Dredging and Mile Point Project

Congressman Ander Crenshaw, Chairman of the House Financial Services and Government Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee, yesterday lauded House passage of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act Conference Report (HR 3080) as a giant step forward for job creation and economic growth in Northeast Florida.

The legislation authorizes JAXPORT dredging and a fix for the Mile Point navigational hazard in Jacksonville and numerous others Florida projects, including the Everglades, Port Canaveral, and Port Everglades.

“Passage of the WRRDA bill means authorization for JAXPORT dredging and a fix for Mile Point – a giant step forward for job creation and economic growth in the Northeast Florida,” said Crenshaw. “With the long-overdue removal of navigation hazards at Mile Point and the dredging of the St. Johns River, large cargo container ships can move into to the region, bringing more trade, more jobs, and a stronger economy for decades to come. That’s a win-win across the board.”
