Buffalo River Dredging About to Start (USA)

Buffalo River Dredging About to Start

The final phase of environmental dredging of the Buffalo River will commence this week, according to dec.ny.gov.

Barges will travel up and down the river as the dredging continues around the clock through December, and river users are asked to use caution when navigating around them.

Contaminated sediment from the river bottom will be removed, limited areas capped, and habitat restored.

This cleanup project is one of the largest of its kind nationally and it is also a key part of building Buffalo’s “blue economy”.
