Milwaukee to Discuss Proposal for Dredged Material Placement Site

The public will have an opportunity at an upcoming public meeting to discuss a proposal from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to place dredged material from the Menomonee River near Miller Brewing Company, to property in Milwaukee owned by the sewerage district.

The public meeting is Wednesday, July 16, at 4 p.m. at the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Headquarters, located at 260 W. Seeboth Street, Milwaukee. The meeting will begin with a presentation outlining the proposal. Staff with the Department of Natural Resources and the sewerage district will be available to answer questions and take comments.

The sewerage district is planning to improve the Menomonee River channel near 40th Street in the city of Milwaukee by removing approximately 1,100 linear feet of concrete and sediments from the channel as part of a stream restoration project.

Approximately 1,600 cubic yards of dredged materials, which consist of solids removed from the bed of any surface water, will be disposed of on the property located within the Milwaukee city limits.
